Are you a proud owner of a modern BMW car with rectangular jacking points? If so, you may be wondering how to effectively use Jackpoint Jackstands with your vehicle. Look no further, as we delve into the specifics of optimizing these jackstands for your BMW.
Understanding the Jackpoint Jackstands
Jackpoint Jackstands are designed to provide a stable and secure lifting platform for your vehicle during maintenance or repairs. With their innovative design, they offer a safe alternative to traditional jack stands, especially for cars with unique jacking points like the BMW.
When it comes to using Jackpoint Jackstands with your BMW, it's crucial to ensure compatibility with the rectangular jacking points. These specialized jackstands are specifically crafted to fit the unique shape of the jacking points, providing a secure and reliable lifting solution.
The E39 5 Series (introduced 1995/1996) and E46 3 Series (introduced 1998/1999) firmly established the four plastic jack pad system we now associate with BMW. Each pad is a small rectangular block on the underside, often removable if damaged.
The E38 7 Series (1994–2001) also adopted this style, though slightly different in shape compared to E39/E46, it was still a rectangular underbody lift pad system (instead of a hole in the sill).
By the early 2000s (with models like the E60 5 Series, E65 7 Series, E83 X3, E53 X5 facelift, etc.), all new BMW models included these rectangular jack pads as the standard factory-designated lifting points.
This approach became ubiquitous across the entire BMW lineup—coupes, sedans, SUVs, and M cars alike. The days of hooking a scissor jack into a sill cutout were gone.
Our Jackpoint Jackstands with Block Pads are specifically designed to fit into the rectangular jack point found on most modern BMWs. They can also be used with cars that utilize pinch welds for jacking points. Please confirm your jack points look like that pictured below before ordering.
If you have an older BMW that does not have these rectangular jacking points then please reach out to us via the Vehicle Fitment Page and we'll help you find the best solution for your car.
